I have no idea if this is true or not, but according to a book by E. Stanley Jones (The Christ of Every Road) written in 1930:
“The oldest known bit of writing in the world is a piece of papyrus in a Constantinople Museum. On it is written: βAlas, times are not what they used to be. Children no longer obey their parents and everyone wants to write a book.'” (pg 23)
I don’t know about you, but that cracked me up! How true today!! Truly did Solomon write:
What has been is what will be, and what has been done is what will be done, and there is nothing new under the sun.
Ecclesiastes 1:9 (ESV)
