Elorah will turn 3 in January of 2010. She’s been talking up a storm for some time now, but not necessarily in discernible English. So I’ve become a bit accustomed to smiling at her and saying something along the lines of “Oh, really?” or “Wow”.
This Sunday morning she caught me offΒ guard. Elorah was telling me something about a teddy bear, while I was drinking some orange juice. I smiled at her and nodded, when suddenly from 35 inches off the floor I heard a mildly indignant,
Dad, talk to me.
From the mouth of babes!
My 10 month old was complaining to me last night, wanting to be held. She finally twice uttered “dada!” It was so appealing, I had to pick her up. π
That’s awesome, Judah! Is this your first or do you have some older kids as well?
I’ve got another one, older, but I adopted him when he was 4, so this is my first time in the baby stage. First girl, too, and she’s a major flirt. π
This really struck me. Because that is what they really want. And don’t underestimate them! I’m reading “She calls me Daddy” right now. Highly recomend it.
Yeah, that is a good book, Matt.
