Children come with a built-in, living instruction manual called parents. Calling God “Abba, Father” means accepting things like, “Hear, O sons, a father’s instruction, and be attentive, that you may gain insight, for I give you good precepts; do not forsake my teaching.” (Proverbs 4:1-2 ESV)
Nate, For the past several months I have been involved in a Bible Study of Proverbs. Unfortunately, this is one book pastors seem to ignore, because they think it is difficult to preach from.Β Β My conclusion is that it would be best to encourage parents (especially fathers) to teach their children from Proverbs on a regular basis. The best resource I have found with a verse by verse study “Proverbs” by John A. Kitchen. … Fathers diligently teaching their children, from one generation to another … Your children are blessed to have a father who cares enough to teach them well.
Blessings on Yom Terah! Joy Ensign
Thank you, Joy! I apologize that I did not respond to this promptly. I have also enjoyed the commentary on Proverbs by Ryan O’Dowd.
